Hutan Bandar MBJB

Hutan Bandar is located between Jalan Tasek Utara Road and Jalan Yahya Awal, Johor Bahru. It covers an area of 50 acres and only about 1.5 km from the city center.

The forest was developed by the Research and Consultancy Unit of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1987. The aim is to create a special recreation that integrates with the original element and minimize the tree cutting. The design integrates the elements such as topographic structures, water resources, flora and fauna with the facilities provided. The result is a verdant green environment with aesthetic value and beautiful scenery.

The concept of the forest is 'Family Recreation Park'. It offers a cozy, comfortable and harmonious nature environment. Facilities such as food court, children's game site, gazebo, campsite, toilet, changing room, chalet, lecture hall, surau and BBQ facilities are provided.

The forest also has seven lakes and a swimming place for children.

This urban forest has been selected as one of the destinations in the Prosperous City program organized by the World Health Organization W.H.O in 1994.

Hear From Others

It was surprisingly clean, green and well-looked after. And how authentic was the forest in the city? I could hear the sounds of crickets and other unrecognizable insects when I was there so it should be "foresty" enough.
